Today, May 7th, Max’s blood sugar reading was at 7.7 when he woke up. For an adult human being, the body’s pancreas regulates sugar automatically within the range of 4 to 6. For a type 1 diabetic, the pancreas doesn’t work to produce insulin to convert sugar into energy.

For Max, 7.7 is a good score as we need to keep him within a range between 5 and 12. But this score doesn’t come easy. It’s a constant effort of attention and measurement between insulin injections and carbohydrates (carbs) intake. Max is a trooper as he patiently works with us every day to keep his levels in check.
